Together with the  Profesor Uría Foundation, Uría Menéndez has created the Rodrigo Uría Meruéndano Art Law Award, which aims to encourage innovative and ground-breaking studies on the law of art.

This Award is also organised to honour the memory of the prestigious lawyer and patron of the Arts, Rodrigo Uría Meruéndano, president of the Patronage of the Prado Museum (2004-2007) and first president of the Professor Uría Foundation.

The winner of the second edition of the Award is Mr. Juan Javier Negrí, an Argentinian lawyer, who presented an article entitled: “La puerta de Banksy (el error en la compraventa de obras de arte)” [The door by Banksy (error in the sale and purchase of artwork)].
This year, the Award ceremony will take place in Lisbon on 7 June 2016. Mr. Javier Solana will be offering the Award to Mr. Negrí, and the Portuguese Minister of Culture will be closing the event. Also, we will have the chance to enjoy two wonderful lectures by Ms. Anna O’Connell on immunity from seizure legislation, and by Dr. Paulo Mota Pinto on artwork and personality rights.
