I set up the Bridgeman Art Library in 1970. It is now a digital fine art licensing company which represents over 2000 museums, art collections and historic houses throughout the world and raises revenue on their behalf by handling the reproduction rights to their works, often in tandem with their own reproduction and photographic departments. We have offices in Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Berlin, as well as our head office in London, a staff of 100, and over 70 agents around the world. In 2006 I founded the Artists’ Collecting Society (ACS), an organisation which manages the Artists’ Resale Right (ARR). The Artists’ Collecting Society’s company structure is unique. We are a not for profit Community Interest Company, which means that all profit we make is legally locked into the company and has to be used to benefit the artistic community. ACS currently sponsors a bursary for a student at the RA Schools and several art prizes for emerging artists. In addition to this, we have facilitated the redirection of participating artists’ royalties to causes close to ACS’ heart, including the AGBI and the Koestler Trust.
Outside work I enjoy spending time with my family, travelling and reading.
